Cancer here, Cancer there, Cancer everywhere ...

As I've expected, the very next morning after my bicycle ride I had aches all over my body. Sekarangpun masih aching sikit ... So my new purple bicycle dah berhabuk dua hari kat tmpt parking menunggu agaknya bilalah tuan dia ni nak menggunakannya kembali., which I hope will be soon.

Well actually the very same day after I bought the bicycle, I did another round on it. I went cycling after Maghrib prayer to nearby areas around my house. Crazy? Cycling at night? Sorang-sorang? Dahlah awaktu ada cancer, stage 4 pulak tu? Well, my new bicycle has a small cute lamp attached to it. Bell pun ada, tersedia utk di bunyikan. So no worries.. ^ __ ^

I started off doing several laps around the playground next to my house but after that I felt bored. In addition there's this Chinese man who was walking his dog, looking suspiciously at me yang asyik asyik round kat situ jer. Ntah-ntah dia ingat aku nak stalk mana-mana rumah utk di rompak, so I decided to venture out a little bit further to the nearby condos, a few blocks away.

On my way I passed by a nasi lemak stall by the roadside, nasib baik pelanggan dia tak ramai or else I would surely have bumped into them with my sekejap to the right, sekejap to the left mode of cycling. Dahlah stall tu letak betul-betul kat corner... with cars parked at the sides. Cuma I did noticed the stall owner looking at me because I passed his stalls 3 times!

Then as I got to one of the condo block, I heard this "Wouish, wouish, psst, psst" sound. I looked around. Nobody there. Then I looked up. Hemm ... ada 2 org mamat rupanya, siap mlambai-lambai pulak lg. I could'nt care less and kept on going. When I heard the adzan for Isyak, I decided to call it a day.

When I reached home, E-Ya told me my father had, like about 10 times asked her where I had gone to. No joke man. Actually my father has gotten a lot forgetful these days itulah sbbnya dia tanya sampai 10 kali tu. Normallah buat dia. Dia dah tanya satu question, 5 minutes kemudian dia akan tanya the same question again and again. Sigh...org tua mcm tu le.. Anyway I managed to come back in one piece. I felt refreshed, felt energized ..................................................................... konon ...

I told E-Ya where I went including the incident aku kena "whistled at" kat condo tadi. E-Ya and her sister, Fizah were infront of the TV set eating at the time.

E-Ya : "Alah, dia org usik Acik sbb dia org ingat Acik muda lagi. Kalau dia org tahu Acik dah tua tak de nyer. Kan gelap...". Chett ...

Fizah : " Ah, ah.. silap-silap dia org terkejut terus terjun dr atas ke bawah.." Double chett...!

Bdak-bdak ni tak bg chan langsung aku nak prasan sikit ... Tak pe, tak pe ...

Paling aku tak boleh terima suggestion dr si Fizah - Memandangkan yg aku masih tak stabil bawa basikal, dia suggestkan aku pakai "P" besar-besar kat belakang aku .... hampeh ...!

Hence, that's the reason why my purple bicycle is collecting dust now. Sabar my beautiful purple bicycle ye... Come few days, your tuan will be stronger and together we will again be on our adventure, sailing the high seas, across the continents ... eh.. apa daaa aku merepek ni...

So what did I do this past two days? Apa lagi on the netlah... Surf blog org and do some more readings on cancer , treatment and its side efects. The onward content of this entry will be about this. Err.. not exactly, its actually on people with cancer.

Call it coincidence or what, but as I was reading this one blog, I came to realize that the writer is a breast cancer survivor. And one thing led to another as I found links on her blog that took me to other cancer patients' blog. Throughout the 2 day reading, it had come to my attention that I had read blogs talking about not less that 20 people stricken with cancer. From the list, I found several of them are teachers. Not to mention the 2 teachers I met when I had my FNAC of the neck remember? Hey, why lah??

For e.g. there's this teacher who hails from Kedah who was diagnosed as having tongue cancer. Can you imagine that? Of all the places in the body, she had to get cancer there? Subhanallah. From her story, she wrote that she had her whole tongue removed through operation. Lagi sekali.. subhanallah, I can't imagine what she went through. But God's willing she's recuperating quite well now. She also mentioned that in her housing area alone, there are 5 people down with cancer.

Another blog, from Prof. Kamil who wrote the book "Travellog Haji" also mentions that his father has bladder cancer, and just today he wrote to say that his wife's sister had just been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Not to mention after a month I was diagnosed, my sister who is staying in Kelantan tu informed me that her brother in law is also now battling cancer - lung cancer. And many more... Hence the title of this entry, "Cancer here, cancer there, cancer everwhere..."

Alas, I do get quite stressful sometimes reading some of the blogs especially the part where the writers relate their pain and sufferings. I'm not denying what they went through. I too have excruciating pain at my pelvis, remember? But Alhamdullilah... after the radiotherapy, practicing and reciting supplications (doa) the Ustaz taught me, praying and taking the blessed water plus most importantly with Allah S.W.T's consent, the pain has subsided tremendously. I do not have to rely on pain killers too often now and the bleeding although not entirely gone, has also minimised. In fact up till today, I have not taken my pain killer and its already 5 days since the last. Alhamdullilah - Thank you Allah ...

I hope my condition will further improve. I read somewhere that oxygen is a good thing for cancer patients. Cancer cells cannot survive in an environment where there are lots of oxygen. They will be starved in such environment and eventually die. Hence that explains my bicycle ride. I want to breathe in as much oxygen as I can. You all might suggest, nak senang, logically beli tangki oxygen dan inhale je from it, betul tak? As appealing as that might sound tp giler apa??? Imagine me dgn tangki oxygen on my back wherever I go, mcm org nak gi diving only its on land not in the sea... Silap-silap aku dihantar dek bdak-bdak berdua tu nanti ke Tanjung Rambutan ...

I must also to always put my spirits high. Must produce lots of endorphins, as I heard laughter is also a good cure for cancer. So people out there ..., make me happy will you ...

But, I do have to bear in mind that my treatment from the hospital is only palliative not curative. Nonetheless, I am hoping for a miracle. Call me unrealistic, call me crazy, call me dumb, wishing for something uncertain. Everything is up to Allah's discretion. If He wills, He will. I hope Allah grants me the wish as He knows I have too many "unfinished business" still to be accomplished. Ameen.

On a lighter note, as I was surfing through this one site, I came across some info on Western celebrities who are cancer patients. They include :

The sultry, seductress Kylie Minogue, breast cancer - who can forget her?

Tenor Luciano Pavarotti - pancreatic cancer

Bob Marley .... apart from being a raggae singer, guitarist, songwriter and activist, he is also popular with his "rambut tak basuh" style of hair - cancer at the toe at first then when he refused to have it amputated, the cancer spreads to his brain, lungs, liver, and stomach.

Freddy Fender, the evergreen singer with songs like, "Wasted days and wasted nights" and "Till the teardrops fall" - Lung cancer

World Tag Team Champion Rowdy Roddy Piper - non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (dekat stomach dia). Amacam? Wrestlerpun boleh kena cancer, tak heranlah akupun boleh...

No joke man..., this eagle is also a celebrity. W/pun dia burung tp nama dia TIGER. Its Auburn University Southeastern Raptor (mcm symbol Univ. tu laa) - Skin cancer

Others on lists include casts of "Charlie Angels". Ni Charlie Angels yg original bukan yg movie baru tu.. Remember Farah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson? Also their boss, Charlie yg hanya dngr suara aje tu? Maybe the show was jinxed, for they all have cancer. Steve Job, Apple computer's CEO pun ada cancer. Fran Drescher who plays "The Nanny" has the same cancer as me, endometrial cancer. The list goes on ...

At the homefront we have, to name a few :

Azean Irdawati - Breast Cancer
Rozita Che Wan - Breast Cancer (Katanya le... Kachiwalah you guys yg kat luar sana tu ...)
Datin Sri Endon - Breast Cancer
Tan Sri Megat Junid - Prostate Cancer
Norraya Mohd. Yusof - isteri pelawak Sabri Yunus, (Abe Wan) dlm Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu

The above are the ones I know. Unlike people from the West, Asians particularly Malaysians I think are not that open to reveal that they are cancerous. But I believe the list is longer.
